VIETNAM FARMER’S UNION & BUSINESSES INSPECTED AGRICUTURE IN NORTH WEST REGION, VIETNAM

This initiative is Sunny World’s commitment to connect the local producers, processors, buyers and distributors of agro-aquatic products with global markets in general and China in particular via formal cross-border trade.

Sunny World has been entering agreements of cooperation with Vietnam Farmer’s Union, equipping them with knowledge and toolkits of advanced agricultural production platforms, sales and marketing, international requirements for exports, roadmap for export successes in light of free trade agreements such as CPTPP, EVFTA…

Feb 2019, Vietnam Farmer’s Union tied-up with businesses including Sunny World to make a 6-day inspection trip in North West regions including Son La, Lao Cai & Yen Bai.

Despite being rich in natural resources and favorable weather condition, the region as a whole is witnessing average outcomes in agriculture. High ratio of poor families, scattered cultivation and production are main reasons. A thorough frameworks including policies, planning guidelines should be put first priority as a basement for future growth.

The inspection brought businesses a closer look into material production zones, local specialty produces including tea, milk cows, fruits, rice, cold-water fish farming (in Lao Cai) and the eco-tourism model… Studying the pros and cons of the region will help businesses navigate a bigger picture to propose long term development strategies.
